MICROPROCESSOR PERFORMANCE BENCHMARKING

Advances in microprocessors and other intelligent semiconductor products require benchmarking to demonstrate improved performance over existing technologies. Companies that decide whether or not to incorporate the latest microprocessors require proof of performance. Running these microprocessors through a series of tests and documenting the results provides this proof.

One company turned to the Majec Systems team for help with technical evaluations and documentation for tests of a multimedia technical demo of new processors. The project team worked with a pre-configured platform with AMD 5K86 processor.

The project team, lead by Majec Systems' Ed Guinn, performed a series of tests to benchmark performance. They then applied the benchmarks to the platform while running the demo with specific verification of commands to the chip in handling numerous video codex and animation tests.

The result of this benchmarking and documentation gave their client the confidence that this family of microprocessors would have the performance necessary to meet their application.
