IMPROVING NON-PROFIT COMPETITION EVENT REGISTRATION WORKFLOW

The Majec Systems team has relationships with many non-profit organizations in the Austin, Texas region. One organization, the Texas Association,Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) needed an online team event registration website. FCCLA is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in family and consumer sciences education in public and private school, grades 7- 12.

Working with Nancy Kromar, an independent database programmer for FCCLA, Majec's Maryanne Moore created a series of web pages, which allowed the members of the non-profit association to register teams of students for various event competitions.

The web forms are populated by information stored in a Microsoft Access database, which allow members to select their chapter and the event in which they wish to participate.

The website then provides the members a way to enter the information about their team and their project. Once the form is submitted, the members receive an email confirmation in addition to a confirmation web page with any additional information needed to participate.

Also, another page on the site has a web form where members can make recommendations for competition judges. Contact information about the potential judge and the person referring them is submitted for review by the non-profit sponsor.

Once the site was built, tested, and launched, the process to organize the events and registration process was greatly simplified, which was of great benefit for the FCCLA organization.
