CONTROL LOOP FOUNDATION: TECHNICAL BOOK SUPPLEMENT WEBSITE

The web has opened up amazing possibilities for authors to extend the content within their books to a richer, more interactive environment. Authors of a new technical book for automation professionals, Control Loop Foundation - Batch and Continuous Processes, teamed up with Majec and some of Majec's trusted partners, to develop a website to augment their book. The objective of the site was to provide interactive workshops and solutions to reinforce important concepts shared by the authors. This site was also designed to provide a promotional presence for the book.

Control Loop FoundationThe interactive, 107-page site was built using Visual Studio 2010 to integrate HTML5 client-side elements required for the dynamic, content-reinforcing workshops with a remote server that ran the simulations of industrial processes and control systems.

The results from these simulations are displayed throughout the ControlLoopFoundation.com website.

The Majec team created a separate database administrator site to simplify the content management process for the News & Updates page. The design also incorporated the authors' YouTube videos, which showed the workshop solutions for each of the simulations. Google Analytics were incorporated to provide feedback on the site visitors.

Ed Guinn led the Majec project lead and worked with Cowan Site Services for design and web client-side development, the authors and their R&D team for the HTML5 code elements, and Deborah Franke for content strategy and overall vision of the site.
